While there is some linguistic cross-over, it’s very clear when one digs into details of numerous references that the Yahweh God of the Judeo-Christian frame is distinct from the Allah of the Islamic frame and that this Islamic concept is featured in the bible prominently as Ba’al. There is no interchangeability between Yahweh and Allah and they are not synonymous. The suggestion otherwise is just ignorant.
This is just a statement of uncontroversial fact. What one does with that is up to them.

And, secularists also have a role to play, if they force us to accept pornographic modernity, more traditionalists will avoid dialogue with modernists and more of them will perpetuate the weaknesses of traditional culture. So, we should work together to reform both traditional and modern weaknesses.

Ishmael Abraham Elvish is a linguistic concept and I have explored the concept of a divine proto-language. The sacred Abrahamic texts indicate that there will be a future universal spiritual language. So, I try to be eloquent writer of both ancient and modern languages.
Kimber’el Eventide thank you Ishmael Abraham! Indeed, the Elvish language Tolkien created is a “sample” of what light language can do for a species and how it elevates them getting them in touch with their divineness created by a divine source we all come from.
Ishmael Abraham If I had met Tolkien and CS Lewis I would have passionately described to them how Quran ecumenically resolves their denominations. Tolkien considered his mother a martyr of faith. Ishmael Abraham You are right. Tolkien would have appreciated the mystic side while CS Lewis would have preferred the exegetical side. Both are complementary. Mysticism helps overcoming intellectual egoism and lack of praxis and exegetical approach helps overcoming the mystic ineffability and antinomian egoism.

Kimber’el Eventide Ishmael Abraham and another thing is Tolkien can go beyond cultures and see the truism of all religions. He was able to bring pagan/monotheism together as the Quran suggested once that the people belong as one great family.

Ishmael Abraham Rene Guenon has worked on the idea you have suggested and it is called perennialism. Quran sees paganism as an offshoot of primordial monotheism because we tend to grow closer in love to the physical manifestations of light instead of the Divine Source. So, first and greatest commandment teaches that the we should make the love of created lights subordinate to the love of The Light (An Nur).

Ishmael Abraham Ha ha. Born in France and died in Egypt. He was a muhajir (Quranic term for a migrant for God) who left his home for God so his last word was Allah. I am agoraphobic so I cannot be as great as him. Just like Tolkien used allusions to European mythology, he used allusions to Hindu mythology of the Hindu ancestors of Pakistani unitarians.
I should commend that during interfaith and intercultural debates this is the best resource to briefly relate to famous western personalities, because Islam is basically defined by a unitarian theology and a sacred democratic political philosophy. A western sister who admires Quran introduced me to Tolkien and this article contributed to interfaith and intercultural dialogue. Thanks.

Shalom the divine peace may be upon those who follow divine guidance. I am an orthodox Muslim involved in interfaith and intrafaith dialogue. Your comment that Protestants are also the sons of Rome made me smile. Quran names Chapter 30 after the Rome which represents the western civilization. The Syrian Orthodox played a crucial role in 1st century politics and spirituality of Islam. The wife of third Caliph of Islam, Naila, was a Syrian Orthodox Christian who refused to marry after the martyrdom of his Ishmaelite husband. God bless you and we also agree on Ezekiel 18:20. Previously a Russian orthodox monk blocked me. I hope you are open to dialogue.

Wow. Shalom the divine peace may be upon those who follow divine guidance. This was an amazing reading. I am wondering why it is without comments for almost an year. This perfectly describes the historical trajectory of not only Christendom but the same ideas apply to birth of Karaite movement in Jewry and Salafi movement in the Ishmaelite world. This is an important sentence: Sola Scriptura does not promise, and does not deliver, an infallible church. There is a debate in our faith tradition about the meaning of the the sacred texts about the interplay between Quran and Prophetic praxis at the historical advent and the continuing interplay between Quran and Prophetic descendants. The Twelver doctrine treats Prophetic descendants as infallible. The Sunni doctrine treats the consensus of the entire community as infallible. The middle community or the Ishmaeltic Ebionites called the Zaydis who are the pro-Sunnah Shias treat individual Prophetic descendants as fallible but consensus of Prophetic descendants to be infallible. I also think that if one absolutely rejects the mystic tradition in favour of blindly anti-traditionalist Sola Scriptura, one can end up being a deist and finally an atheist. So, a think one should be skeptically traditionalist rather than being an anti-traditonalist while being a sola scriptura missionary. God bless you and may he guide you to Arian Catholic sainthood, Newtonian sola scriptura unitarianism and pronomianism of Ebionites. There is no salvation without first and greatest commandment to love our Creator especially with all our MINDS. I hope they are Scriptural enough to publish my Ebionitic comment.

My father won a scholarship to study at Maryland but he chose to return due to consumerist obsession although he did not appreciate the current sexual obsession two decades ago. I stumbled here as I was researching about Parsi singer Freddie Mercury who hated his past so much that he even changed his name from Farokh which means the happy person in Persian and Persian mystic Ghazali has written Alchemy of Happiness on the concept of psychological and soteriological happiness. Modern culture is glorified by western politicians as ‘offering’ creative destruction of the traditional world. This is natural and logical because absence of spiritual light of first commandment only zoological darkness will prevail. Even a Parsi scientist of Pakistani origin ended up being pulled by the black hole of sexual revolution. His case is curious for traditionalists because he died of AIDS. This lawmaker corroborates another Hadith that majority of inhabitants of Paradise will be those who are bulh/blind in materialistic and secular sense but enlightened in the spiritual and scriptural sense. To Theo Hobson: How failed deism and sola scriptura leads to atheism?

I want to revive the missionary legacy of what Quran calls a hawari/disciple Thomas who was martyred in India by polytheists for his monotheism. And, today Muslims in India, especially, Kashmir continue that legacy. I have witnessed a relationship between Sola Scriptura movements and deistic movements within both West and Middle East because both dislike the religious tradition, and many apostates tend to be influenced by Sola Scriptura and deism, but not everyone has the fervour of Herbert of Cherbury to dive in the ocean of love and ocean of logos at the same time. For example, Dawud At Tai a saint threw his books in the river to focus on worship and divine remembrance but his friend Imam Zufar managed to reconcile both which requires greater faith and greater scholarship. There is a Hadith that those who understand the logos deeply are more effective against the Evil than the worshipers, however, a Prophetic descendant warns that scholarship which does not have attendant piety is worthless. So, Islamic worldview has been able to contemplate and reconcile these issues centuries ago when West was relatively ignorant about both Scripture and logic.
