Assalam Waleykum I had a fiancé from Pakistan. He couldn’t marry because his family wish that he marry in family. He is going to marry other girl now. Is he right? He hurted me a lot!
Wa alaykum assalam, the validity of nikah(marriage) does not require the consent of wali(guardian) of male, but some fuqaha(legal scholars) consider consent of wali of females a condition in marriage. I follow Imam Abu Hanifa(r) who says that a woman can marry without consent of parents if the man is compatible and equivalent(kufuw) to him. If you have more taqwa(fear of Allah and abstaining from sins) which converts have more than Pakistani girls, then he has made a wrong decision. And, if your fiance was not a caller to Islam, nominally religious Pakistani guys cannot handle diversity.
