    Ishmael Abraham There are only two authentic female figures in Islam who understood jurisprudence well. One is Mother of Believers and the other is Rabia Basri. The details of jurisprudence are based on Hadith. Both Shia and Sunni believers understand the importance of Hadith. What modernist feminists like Amina Wadud do is to discard Hadith. But you cannot be a Shia believer without Hadith.

    Peter Bell No one is going to take your bait here, my friend. What you are asking for (lying in wait to trap anyone who says anything) is a tautology without content. I can open the Quran and find many lovely things about God and man and Jesus and Islam and Christianity, and I can open a Bible and find many ways in which Christianity as it is commonly practiced today is thoroughly displeasing to God.The literal interpretation you find so “inspiring” is contrary to the gracious and life-giving character of God, who loves all the people he has created in his image, and desires for them to come into life and communion with him. May the Spirit of Jesus convert your heart (and mine) to love as he loves.

    Nick Elam The increased divorce rate is largely due to the fact that it is much easier to get a divorce in America than it used to be. Unfortunately, many women would be stuck in abusive marriages because they had to prove in court they had good reason for divorce. So no regrets there. And of course any rational person opposes any extremist brand of feminism (or any teaching) that breeds hate towards other people. The problem is I see many people who say that, yet attack all feminism or any attempts at gender equality. Yet again, you find yourself agreeing with conservative Christians.

    Nick Elam If you really want to lower the divorce rate, maybe we as a culture shouldn’t pressure people so much to get into commitments they aren’t necessarily ready for or have thought through.

    Quran 54:1 teaches that moon will disintegrate. Hadith teaches that sun will swell.
